Our simulations focused on a cross-sectional developmental trajectory for the acquisition of regular, irregular, and novel verb past tense formation that we had generated from around 20 individuals with WS and 50 control children and adults (Thomas et al. 2001). These data indicated that individuals with WS exhibited a delay in the acquisition of the English past tense that was equal for regular and irregular verbs, but also a reduced tendency to generalize known inflectional patterns to novel verb forms.
