Courses are structured for those with some experience of the medium who wish to :
a) enjoy a painting holiday in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere
b) improve their skills under the guidance of a patient tutor in a small group and
c) receive one-to-one tuition and guidance to resolve individual problems
All courses are suitable for those who have received basic instruction in the medium of watercolour and are able to paint flat, graded and variegated washes without too much difficulty. They are NOT suitable for the absolute beginner.
The courses are intended for those who understand the basic techniques of the medium and now wish to practise and improve their skills under tuition. The daily demonstrations are strongly recommended for those in this category.
Some students may be venturing outside for the first time and will be seeking advice in order to deal with the elements. These courses are also ideal for those with more experience wishing to complete projects outdoors, whilst at the same time having a tutor on hand for advice on a one-to-one basis. These students are encouraged to get on and 'do their own thing'.
The content will include planning and composition, colour, tonal values, recession, perspective and the use of light. We will visit a different site each day and our aim would be to complete a painting at most sessions.
Tuition
Either by demonstration, including commentary, or advice and guidance your tutor is teaching all day: a course of usually 8 to 10 in Guernsey ensures that everyone has ample one-to-one tuition to sort out individual problems.
Non painting partners
Non painting partners are always very welcome
on all courses.
